Aamir Bashir

It is with great sadness that we report the death of our professional Aamir Bashir, at the age of 38, following a long battle with cancer.

In the 1990s Aamir played for many teams including Multan, United Bank Limited and Peshawar Cricket Association. He caught the eye of the Pakistani selection committee being selected for the squad to play in the ODI against India in Kolkata in November 2005 and played his last first-class game in February 2009. His first class career spanned nearly 20 years and over 200 games

Aamir joined Hollinwood C.C. in 2001 and quickly became a popular team player and friend to many within the Club. A World renowned batter who was also a respected bowler he helped the First XI become league winners in 2006, which was followed by victory in the Twenty/20 league competition in 2008.

A stalwart, attacking batter he achieved 10,600 runs during 229 innings within the Saddleworth & District Cricket League giving a healthy average of 60.9.
